1994 Camry Gear Indicator Lights

Another 94 camry question: The gear selector light for drive is out, every other gear light is fine. I took the dash apart hoping it to be a lamp or LED, but all I found was a ribbon cord going to the display. Is there a way to fix this, or do I have to buy a whole new unit?
