Am I overworrying? Lucida query

Hi, we have looked at a second hand 1996 Lucida today, we saw on the MOT advisories that the oil light and water quantity light had been on when last presented for MOT.  Could there be an electrical problem which might cause these lights to come on when actually no problem, or was the driver lazy and forgot to top both up, and may have caused damage to the car?   There were no leaks under the car, no smoke, and got up to temperature fairly quickly.  Opinions please on whether there may be damage to car,     thanks

Walk away there are plenty of others, if the owner didn't sort out the issues before an MOT it's likely to of been neglected and in need of a major service inc fuel filter and more than likely its overdue a cam belt (depending on the engine)

condition and date of the tires as well as the condition of the brakes is a good indicator

Why would you buy a vehicle with obvious faults.?..and what else might be lurking in the shadows.?

As Bob says...better to walk away and find another.

Exactly what my husband said, but he is very organised and would not dream of testing a car with warning lights on.

Thanks all, will be spending the weekend on the hunt for another car.
