Engine immobiliser system indicator

I'm new to Toyota and to driving a hybrid, and am gradually coming to grips with its characteristics. I noticed for the first time yesterday that the engine immobiliser warning light continues to flash on and off when you turn off the engine, and still does so after locking the car. Is this correct? Or is it a fault that might be because I had earlier tried to lock the car with the spare key inside? If so, how do I rectify it?

Sounds normal to me. Don't all relatively recent cars do this? Certainly all of the Toyotas, VWs, Fords and Peugeots I've owned in the past 20 years had a little LED for the alarm or immobiliser which flashed when the engine was off.

Thanks. I was worried/intrigued because I am used to the warning light being on top of the dashnord, visible from outside. In the Toyota, the flashing indicator is in the main display panel, ie, visible only when you're behind the steering wheel. It's why I wondered whether it indicated a fault rather than simply showing that the car alarm/immobiliser is operating.

I can see your logic.

I think the LED flashes quickly (for 2 minutes?) prior to the alarm being armed, when the LED frequency slows very noticeably.
