Hi I recently bought a 2012 rav 2.2 xtr only getting 36.5 mpg wondering what others are getting

The XTR bit implies that it is a late 4.3? Auto or Manual? IIRC for an auto that would be rather good; for a manual perhaps a little disappointing ...

Honest John "real mpg" suggests low 30s for the auto and low 40s for the manual.
