Can I wirelessly connect iPhone for CarPlay?

Have just got Yaris Cross premiere with city pack. Can my iPhone connect wirelessly to use Apple carplay or does it have to be plugged in?  Also can my phone charge wirelessly?

Unfortunately the City Pack downgrades the infotainment to the older 8" system which does not have wireless Apple CarPlay.

No UK spec models have wireless charging. I use the below DIY setup for wireless charging. But this is probably less useful when you have to be plugged in anyway.
