If I've understood correctly, there is now a revised 0w20 (Toyota OEM) oil out.

Can anyone help me understand the real differences between:

08880-86294

&

08880-83886

It would help many of us that buy service kits.

Been using the new spec 0w20 for a year now and there is no difference at all. Same engine sound, same colour, same oil consumption , if not even greater as the mileage is ticking off, I don’t think there is anything in practice that owner or the engine can sense or see as benefits, perhaps the new spec is to accommodate emissions standards or something, fuel consumption, although my mpg is pretty much unchanged.
Either spec 0w20 GF-5 or GF-6 will be ok for this car.

It is identical for most people usage. It is more important for Turbo engines in some Toyota line up. The V8 is gone anr replaced by 3.5 turbo. The old V6 is replaced by 2.4 Turbo.

The new specs GF6 has better retentions on heat and sludge preventions.

Standard test on GF6 is higher and tighter. I think we have 3 more standard tests than GF5.

It is still not longlife though, still 1 year/10k interval. I am not sure if the Diesel Toyota use the same specs.
