I’ve downloaded an update onto a USB plugged it into the USB in Rav and nothing happens.

Any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong please.

Rav 4 64 plate

thanks in advance

Not following the instructions correctly? 😉

  • USB to be formatted FAT32
  • Downloaded zip file to be unpacked to the root level of the USB drive

In addition to post above. The usb stick needs to be 64gb or less. The update is fussy about that, even though the media system on the head unit will read larger sticks.
if you know how to, you could split the partitions on the usb into 64gb chunks, but make sure the update goes on the first partition.

If I remember correctly, the USB also needs to be a 2.0 USB rather than the newer 3.0.

I used a 16gb 2.0 USB stick, formatted to FAT32

I had issues updating too, trying different file formats, memory sticks etc. I finally managed to get the update done with a 16gbm 2.0, USB formatted to FAT32. I took this screen shot to help me remember, so I could do the update without any problems the next time an update was needed. Hopefully this helps you too.

Years of doing this with many makes of car have taught me to have a USB that is just bigger than required and reformat every time FAT32. Trying to delete the old version often just puts the file into a deleted folder reducing the available memory for the new file.
