Left brake light not working.

Hello all, first time posting here.

I have an issue on my 2003 XP10 Yaris.

Two days ago I got rear ended.
At that moment I only had a dent on the rear bumper so I just told the guy to not worry and was on my way.
Later the open door warning came up on the dash and found the boot light on.
I proceeded to remove the felt cover on the boot door and disconnect the cable coming the latch.
After doing that the light in the trunk and the warning on the dash turned off.
Immediately after I did a complete rear light check with my wife, brake, fog, indicators & reverse, all worked fine.

The next day my wife noticed that the left brake light was not working.
I swapped the bulbs with the right light and tried reconnecting the latch cable that I have removed.
The rear night lights work fine and the issue is not is not with the bulb.
I also removed the trunk cover and traced the cable connecting the 2 light to make sure that it was not damaged but it looks perfect.

Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Hi Nikolas,

it sounds like the bulb holder has been damaged, if you checked the wiring and the bulbs seem fine. Check the connection in the holder as it's possible one is not making contact properly .

There are 2 designs one is wired between the bulbs on the rear of the light the other uses metal tracks what are hot staked in place these blobs of plastic pop off over time this causes the tracks to come loose and lose connection, the bulb holders are another problem
