Hi!

I have 1995 Carina e wagon. I'm curious about my cars history or reason for why it is Japanese. I believe all Carina e after 1993 should be made in the uk, however my cars VIN starts with JT. Why is that?

According to a Carina timeline produced by Toyota GB, the estate was built in Japan.

Similar story with the Nissan Primera and Honda Accord estates from that era. Maybe it was cheaper to import these variants from Japan/USA rather than having to tool the UK plants and manufacture them here. I haven't seen a Carina E estate for a long time.
