Change Aygo's factory transmission oil.

Today I decide to change the Aygo's factory transmission oil.

There was no problem, I just wanted to put fresh oil.

I bought 2L Liqui Moly Top Tec MTF 5200 75W-80 API GL4 price €16.86x2.

The quantity required is 1.7L.

From a hardware store I bought copper washers for the filling-draining plugs of the gear box.

For the 4 washers 24mm x 18mm x 2mm I paid €0,50.

Hi, I am looking to do the same on my sons Aygo MMI. The oil specified is 75w90.
What socket size was the filler hole and drain hole? Also, did it make a difference to your gear change or just feel the same? My son’s car is a 2011 and has 76k. So, I don’t think it’s ever had a change and is long overdue. Any tips, do’s and dont’s greatly appreciated-thanks Dave.

And, do you flush the gearbox with anything, or just drain it, and put the new stuff in?

Loosen the top up plug first, then the drain plug. Drain the oil. Clean the drain plug - it should be magnetic and will have metal filings on it. Wipe it off with a cloth. Reinstall the plug. Refill.

I'd stick with GL4 oil. Viscosity isn't super critical 75-90 or 75-80 will be fine.

You are unlikely notice much difference.

The socket for both plugs is 24mm.

Almost no difference in the transmission but I thought it was right to change 17 years old oil with 150+K km.

Thanks for the advice. Just one more question, what size tubing did you use?

I refil the transmission from above from the space behind the radiator.

I use 1/2" flexible hose and funnel.

I use 16 mm aquarium filter tubing and funnel. The benefit is that it's transparent so you can see the oil making its (slow) progress down into the box.
