Looking for help on my t25.

Hi,

I have had my avensis t25 2007 for about a year now, it is currently on 230.000 kilometers. And I have some mechanical issues that I can't fix myself so I'm planning to take it to a specialist toyota mechanic. Only I don't know any good toyota mechanics near me. So if anyone knows anything good in the area of Amsterdam or maybe an hour or two drive because I am on the road anyway. Please let me know!!!

problems lately:

It is giving me a weird noise lately when driving in 4th gear around 2200 rpm. I also had a sudden spike of mayor oil consumption a few weeks ago, so I was running with maybe a liter of oil for a little bit. That is also when this sound appeared and did not go away. I am a little worried running on no oil has damaged the insides of my engine. Also I need to get my exhaust carbonfilter cleaned because I have been running idle a lot lately. Also I have had some issues with the powersteering but I think I already fixed that by topping up the fluid. Also the roof lining is falling off the ceiling which is really annoying.

any help or advice is appreciated! Im new on the forum so thanks in advance!

Hi Tijn, there could be a few reasons for the issues you're experiencing with your Avensis. The strange noise in 4th gear at 2200 rpm might be due to worn drivetrain components like bearings, clutch parts, driveshaft, CV joints, or differentials.

The sudden spike in oil consumption could be caused by running low on oil for a while, worn piston rings or valve seals allowing oil to burn in the engine, or a leak in the engine gasket.

There's a possibility that the low oil level and the noise are connected. Low oil can accelerate wear on components, potentially causing both issues.

For the other problems you mentioned

A dirty exhaust carbon filter can reduce engine performance and fuel efficiency. You can find information on cleaning them online by searching for "how to clean a carbon filter."

While refilling the power steering fluid might fix the issue temporarily, a leak might need attention. You can find videos on refilling power steering fluid online by searching for "adding power steering fluid." However, it's important to see a mechanic as soon as possible to check for leaks.

Worn out adhesive or clips likely cause the roof lining issue. Body shops or interior car specialists can fix it. Search online for “body shop near me" or "interior car specialist near me" to find one in your area.

Here's a bit of  help finding a mechanic in Amsterdam:

Search online for workshops specialising in Toyota repairs. You can also use the Toyota website to find authorised service centres in your area.

Check online reviews to see what other people say about mechanics in your area.

Louwman Toyota Amsterdam West is an official Toyota dealership known for using genuine Toyota parts and expertise.

Automotive Amsterdam Autofirst is an independent garage with good reviews.

Remember, this information is based on the symptoms you described. A mechanic will be able to diagnose the exact cause of the problems with your Avensis.Hope this helps .

Hi Bper, thanks so much for the tips. I do think that the low oil has caused me some trouble :(. For the powersteering fluid, I topped it up and it has not been leaking since :). I am making an appointment at the amsterdam autofirst garage after this because it it closeby and has indeed very good reviews. Thanks again I will let you know how it all unfolds...

Kind regards😁
