Petrol Leak

I have a 1981 celica hatch that leaks petrol from the fuel tank whenever the sun comes out. I have been told it could be something to do with a breather tube.Anyone have any advice ?

its the air in the tank , heating up causing expansion , hence the breather pipe.you could try unscrewing the petrol filler cap a little and let it escape there until you get it sorted .

Thanks but I already tried. I even got the seal fixed but it didnt help. The petrol actually bubbles in the tank, and continues even after it is opened. Mechanics around here are of no help whatsoever.Screaming at the car doesnt help either.

Yup! Tried that too, but I do so much driving around that Im stopping every day to get more fuel. Its not cost effective. At over a dollar a litre, I cant afford to waste a drop or stuff around getting more each day. Maybe I should buy a bicycle. :help:

I called the toyota dealership in town and they are gonna have a look at it for me. I figure if I cut off both arms and legs and donate my first born, I should be able to afford to have it fixed. I must say though, I do love the little beast. Thanks for your help.
