:crybaby: have a 96 4runner LTD, 3.4 ltr V-6, (Gold package, sun roof, luggage rack, auto, cd player, leather) that just threw a rod, which broke a hole in the engine. Am trying to figure whether to replace engine or just sell as is. Anyone have an idea what a 4-Runner with a blown engine is worth. Need about $1,000 of body repair also on front fender. Has about $100,000 miles The car really hasn't been driven hard. No idea why this wouuld have happened. The rod actually made a hole about 2 inclhes in diameter in the lower rt side of the block.

Also, Anyone have any good sources to get a price on a replacement engine and all that needs to go with it. Before I take it to a mechanic, I'd like to know aobut how much the parts are really going to run without the big markup. Live in Marietta, GA. Tried to find an engine price on the net, but haven't had any luck.

Is this a common problem with older 4-runners??
