Hello, I am a new member and need a couple of pointers, please help!

I have an 89 Auto Space cruiser and recently had the water pump and H.Gasket replaced. Shortly after the fan belt snapped but we didn't hear it and only noticed a prob from the dissapearance of the temp gauge into the roof of the dash!

Another Gasket I fear! Before I find that out I need to replace the belt and am having trouble getting the fan cover off over the fan, to remove the top belt to get to the alternator and fan 'wheels.' As anyone who has done it will know, things have to come off in that order to do the fan belt. Clever design for the dealers, but I refuse to take it to a garage this time!! If anyone could give me a few ideas I will be forver in your debt!!
