Your alarm will the the standard toyota fit one. It actualy has a seperate horn which is mounted on the passenger side inner wing, tucked into the corner under the bonnet. It is normally operated by the drivers door key, you may just need to reset it kind of.

Try opening the drivers window, then close the door with the key, reach in and unlock the door with the unlock button inside. Now open the door and wind up the window and lock the car as normal. Im basically trying to get you to operate the door motor back in time with the key operation, it may work, it may not, but worth a try.

When you lock the door, the dash light should come on within 10 second of locking, meaning the alarm is operational. If not, then it could be a fuse or something, Try looking at all of them, sometime antitheft systems are interlinked with other system ie room lamp or stereo, this is so it has a backup of power.
