Sorry .. is Carina E GTI a hot version? :-D

Personally I've never found the SGE engine impressing .. except a long gearing

Celica CS and GT4 .. aren't they actually the most fun Toyota have produced for Europe :)

Yes TTE did a good job on the V6 Bi-Turbo Avensis but it's a real shame TTE go to lots effort developing these Turbo kits to show what can be done but Toyota-Europe at least seem little interested in selling the parts.

In my opinion TTE should start by making a more professional website ;-)

The current site looks less then most of the small import-businesses overhere

Carina E GTi.

1992-1994

158cv@6400rpm

1994-1996

175cv@7000rpm

And it wasn't a hot version?

Hear in Portugal existed the Carina E GTI Trophy organized by Portuguese Toyota, maybe for that reason i love it

No, seriously am not impressed, take a look at "lb-ft" .. practically identical with 3SGE (it is the same on the 133hp version I had).

I'll admit that the 175hp have a nice 0-60 time, but can't find the 156hp specs - don't think its much better then the 133 3SFE which does 0-60 in 9 seconds

Well I like the look of the Avensis sports Tourer and would love to see it being build in Derby.

Would do Toyota no harm at all to have a performance version of the car, does anyone remember the howls of laughter when Volvo entered their big T5 estate in Touring Cars? One of my mates now drives a V70 T5R and nobody laughs at him, come to think of it not many people can catch him either. Toyota should consider a high performance diesel too, Ford have the Mondeo ST TDCi, but unlike Ford I would bet that Toyota would product a more understated less in your face vehicle.

Also just look at Honda, makers of cars for your Granny and Grandad, and their Type R cars.

I am just waiting to take delivery of my sensible Avensis D4D T-Spirit hatch, nice spec'ed family car, but I would have really considered a sports version.

Toyota will have 150 and 180hp D4D's later this year ;)

In Denmark they should be priced about £1.900 higher then the current D4D - that being after the Danish car-taxes (180%)

for f##ks sake toyota build a car like this with the type r evo 8 and wrx,s toyota are not with it .dont they realize the british publics love of hot jap motors .

just look at the subaru in all its versions . it,s now the most popular afordable super car available, far out reaching the old favorite the sierra and escort cossie

so come on toyota give us a hot toyota .

something with 2.5 litre and twin turbos would be a good start

What he said! I would have jumped at something with a bit of punch. There wasn't any, so I went for (almost) the cheapest instead.

The Avensis has - I think - good handling and would suit a sportier powerplant and lowering/stiffening. Something for dad's (or mum's) that don't always have the nipper in the back! ;) And I really like the idea of a "sporty" diesel.
