See if you can prove that there was diesel on the road and that's what caused you to lose it. Might be a bit late now if any council workers have deliberately cleared it up since but if you can prove it then you can claim off the council for the whole accident as it is their responsibility to maintain the roads to a safe standard. Same with if a pothole causes an accident everyone claims from the council for causing the accident in the first place.
