Carina Kudos Queries

I have a 94 kudos (64k), the only thing i am aware of that may be different is the Toyota alarm, sun roof and eleky windows. However does it being a Kudos (does this mean its a jap import?) mean it should be serviced differently from a carina e say?

Plugs

At the moment i get new regular sparks every yr (6k annual mileage) by the AA service, should i get platinum put back in. The wife is anecdotal about her low mpg.

How can I tell what engine i have and if it had originally platinum sparks?

Remote

Also - we have lost the alarm remote key fob, are we tied to going to a toyota garage, they are suggesting £100 all in for 1 replacement and re programmed.

Any thought appreciated.
