Lambda Sensor

did mine last week, been out for a run in my 2 and petrol consumption is a LOT better, went from gettin 60-70 miles for a tenner to gettin 120 miles out of it! and thats only 95 ron, gonna try some optimax once ive drained tank and see if i can get more mpg!

Me to, just returned from a 150 mile round trip to glasgow and my fuel light is on after me putting £20 in before i left!

universal sensor from local car parts shop, £20 plus adaptor plate, its on the exhaust after the flexi pipe, i had to remove the manifold to get to it as it has a little heatshield that gets in the way, but it only took half an hour!

found out its also classed as a service part to be changed every 50k miles!

had a little discussion with bloke at shop about whether the sensor is good enough, he claimed the universal ones are no good for mr2, after a quick call it showed he was wrong, just incase anyone has the same argument as i did.

When your on about the lamba sensor do you mean the Oxygen sensor in the exhaust???

yep, i had the light on my dash the same as you did, mine only came on when motorway drivin but it affected regular runnin, i recommend you do yours as well!

dont need a part no, just go into a local car parts shop and ask for a 4 wire universal lambda sensor and an adaptor plate for toyotas! if it costs you over 30 your payin too much, dunno what affect it would have on a tubby, im just talkin from my experience.

When i fitted my decatt, i had to remove the O2 sensor to put it in my decat.

I nearly rounded the nut, as it was so rusty, i would recomend trying to use a ring spanner...DONT ROUND IT OR YOUR F@#KED. :ffs:

I cut the wire, about 6" from the sensor, unpluged it from the car, then removed the sensor with a ring spanner, put the sensor back in my new down pipe, and then soldered the wires back together. :D

Reason i had to cut the wire...the plug is too big for a ring spanner to fit over !

With having no ramps...also wouldnt know where to start taking the exhaust apart

wouldnt recommend it if you havent got a pair of ramps or decent axle stands, must be different sensor for tubby cos one on na has 2 bolts either side so theres no issue of fittin spanner over connector.

for me to say its an easy job could mean a nightmare for anopther person without access to the tools and ramps i can get my hands on!

Yeah true...im reasonably competent when working on the car...got decent selection of tools etc...just missing a set of ramps...

dont need ramps on the tubby i think, the sensor is right next to the dipstick handle

When I put the S/Steel manafold & D/Pipe on it wasn't there??

on an n/a its not in the downpipe its after the flexi

Took it all off and fitted a s/steel setup, all of the exhaust is now s/s

This is where it goe's on the manafold in the U.S. they have 2
