Oil On Road.

I've noticed when I park up, there's a little pool of oil. :(

I've checked all the fluids under the bonnet which are all ok. Next step is gearbox oil check.

I've noticed a "oil run" down side of gearbox closest to bulkhead.

It's a manual box. Is this straight forward (hex nut for level?). Fill untill oil flowing out?

Is the a technical manual that can be downloaded? :)

It's done 85K.

Cheers

Yes, you fill until it flows out. Make sure you are on level ground.

Its a 22mm socket and you require 75w90 Multigarde gear/trans oil if it needs topping up.

Are you sure that the gear oil is leaking? It has a distinctive smell.

Thanks for your reply. Thanks for your help.

Not sure it is gearbox oil. But it's the only fluid that I've not checked. Checked all under bonnet fluids and there all ok. I'll have a smell. :D There's no other fluids about to check is there?

Damn oils grades. :( Got some gear oil that was used on the Rover I think 10w/40. Can you get that grade (75w90) from auto factors? Or is it Toyota dealers?

The coolant is between Min- Max. So not lost a great deal.

The fluid on the floor look oilly. Has the rainbow colours if you look at it.

The gear oil is available from motor factors - about £4 for 0.5lt.

(10W40 is engine oil)

Put some cardboard underneath the car to help identify exactly where its coming from.

good luck
