Before my wife kills me, please help.

To save a buck I have tried to fit new disc's and Pads to the rear of my 2001 Avensis (old shape, not new). What I really Really need to know is.

Is it just brut force to push the piston back in enough to get the new pads on and re-fit the caliper over the new discs.

I have removed the top of the break fluid tank, and the handbreak is, But (I know it was cheap) I have snapped a G clamp by trying to push the piston back in.

I go on Holiday in 3 days and no car as I can't now even get the old ones back on.
