2001 Previa Starting Problem

Recently, our 2001 Previa has become increasingly difficult to start of a morning.

The engine turns over ok, but doesn't quite start.

Sometimes, after a few attempts, the engine will fire and all is well. On other occaisions, i've had to jump start it when the Battery has gone flat from trying to much.

I've replaced the Battery and fitted new spark plugs which made it a little better to start with, but now we're going backwards with increased rough starts again.

The MIL light was on, but then went off again, and is not on at the moment. Can this have anything to do with the starting problem?

TIA
