Clutch Judder

On pulling away in first gear (when cold) I have started getting some clutch judder. (2002 Yaris SR, 44,000mls). Does this mean a new clutch or just a clutch plate. Any ideas, if so what would Mr T charge to replace?

Hiya!

i dont want to be negative!.........but..........

it sounds like a new clutch to me, although 40odd thousand miles seems a but early!

I had the same problem at about 76,000 in my 1.0GS and about 83,000 in my TS both needed a new clutch!

I think Mr.T. wanted to charge around £500 fitted for my TS, but i bought a new clutch kit for about £140 inc VAT and got it fitted elsewhere.

Have a price around and see what you can come up with.

Good Luck

I have this problem on my 00 1.0GS. Only seems to happen in winter when the engine is cold. I've heard theories about poor quality clutch linings and condensation on the clutch plate. Mr T wanted 450 to replace, clutch specialist was 220. Didn't bother getting it changed judder went away in warmer weather but back this winter.

I get it in my T-Sport too. It's to do with the weather as explained above. It'll be fine when we get to spring time.
