1999 1.8se Gearbox Replacement

Hi

I am new to this forum but have a 1999 (T plate) Avensis 1.8SE lean burn engine. The top bearings in the gearbox have finally gone.

Does anyone know where is the best place to get a replacement gearbox from, I would also consider engine and gearbox.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Raceys,

From what i've been told the Carina E box is stronger so if you can get hold of one of those with low mile from a breakers it would be the best job. Also if you have to fit a clutch go for the Optifit clutch from Toyota, it's a Toyota remanufactured clutch that's about 40% of the cost of a new one.
