Oil Maintenance Management System (omms)

Hi All,

I have a 2004 Hi-Lux and wondered if anyone could explain how the OMMS system works.

It's just done 24k miles and was dealer serviced at 22k just 2 months ago, but suddenly the oil change light has come on.

I'm asking because if the system checks the condition of the oil (as I know some cars do) then either I've paid for an oil change I didn't get, or there's something seriously wrong with the engine!

Or is it based on time and distance travelled?

Any explanation would help before I go and shout at the dealer!

Many thanks,

Trevor.

Have the toyota dealer tell you the oil change intervals and why the lighht has come on , if he's worth his salt he will know , if its 24k then have the light reset and the next time wait untill you get a light before a service - not all toyota dealers know toyota cars to the letter.

I think the oil service lights come on after a certain amount of miles, they have probably forgotten to reset it when they serviced it.

Take it back to the dealers and get them to reset it. Shouldnt cost anything too.
