Possible Cat Converter Problem!

Hi,

Recently I have when starting the car warm, been able to smell the catalytic converter. This only happens when the car hasn't had long to cool down, if left for a long time it doesn't do it, but if I just say, nip into a shop or similar, when I re-start the engine I can smell the cat converter, it does fade pretty quickly, but seen as this is new I'm worried it's a serious fault or is going to get worse.

Can anyone offer any advice as to what this might be? Filters? Or something more serious!
