Hair From Landcruiser Exhaust Tail Pipe

Strangest thing, came home from work last night and noticed grey/whitish hair hanging out of the exhaust of my Landcruiser Colorado!

I pulled it out and the length is around 40cm and don't think anyone's playing a prank.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I've seen this from various cars over the years - strangely enough saw an old escort driving down the road with 10 feet of it hanging out last week.

I think its the inside of the silencer giving up - not sure what it does though.

I'll try to find the thread and post the link. It's something in your silencer, as Ian said.

Two options...

1. It is the baffles from the backbox coming out.. replace the backbox

2. Your exhaust has sucked in a stray dog... call a vet to safely remove it.

Up to you what you do... call the vet or replace the back box ;)

I'd replace the box - have you seen how much Vets charge ????

I had this on a Honda Civic, happened just as we were driving into the Honda dealers to P/X it, salesman said it was the cat breaking down and it would cost a load of money, so 6 months later when it had all come out we swapped it for a Toyota.

hi regarding hair its like horse hair i went to quick fit a number of years ago had a back box fitted on a astra about 2 months later noticed all hair coming out of box took it back to them they said it was normal as it was new i did nt belive this so i went to another quick fit different town and pulls in and said to them can you have a look at my back box as i think its gone as all hair as fell out the guy got under and said yes its gone no baffels it needs a new one so i then produced my gurantee

Also had this happen to whilst driving up the A1 in my Dad's Honda Civic...noticed lots of "hair" trailing behind the car. As has been said before it's part of the back box breaking down and flying out........... I was quoted £60 for replacement.
