How To Change Handbrake Cable(97 Previa)

Hi

How do you change the front part of the handbrake cable ?

It looks to be a bit of a pain to me, I have the Chilton manual, but this shows very little, infact nothing for the front part of the cable.

Cheers

I did mine a few months ago. It really just needs you to follow a bit of logic. The Cable runs from the hand brake lever and then initially through a small channel under the lever then through 2 of the chassis square tubes where it is located with the plastic groove clips. To get the old clips out you simply need to tap them with a hammer and small chissel to move them to the large hole (you will see what I mean). At the rear disconnect the spring and if your adjusting bolt system is horribly rusted just cut it off and then slide the whole cable out. Refitting is the reverse.

Just take your time and think it through

Thanks

I knew that you would know the answer.

I will let you know if I get stuck, I am not doing it until the new year anyway.

Just leaving it in gear for the moment.

Only just got around to doing it, had to cut the adjusting bolt off, new one fitted.

Thanks again for the help.

Cheers
