If anything, slightly easier. The lower panel comes off without removing the trim around the window. You will be very pleased with the result!

Cheers

What was the reason they were fitted with the more restrictive strap? Is there any disadvantage to fitting a 90 degree one?

It's a Euro thing about obscuring the lights. The daft thing is that anyone with an up and over door stands in front of the light when the put something in or out of the boot otherwise they would be stood in their own way. It keeps somebody in Brussels in a job.

It does not obstruct the reflectors when the door is open but for some reason the Euro legislation boffins must have deduced that there is more chance of somebody running into the back when the door is open than when it is parked at the side of the street with the door closed and the lights off. Having the door open must activate a passing car tractor beam.

I seem to have managed to get passed lots of parked cars since I started driving without crashing into them because I couldn't see a light on the offside.

Silly legislators!!!

The longer checkstrap was the very first adaption I did to my RAV4 when I first bought it and I reckon I would be getting really, REALLY irritated by the restricted door open otherwise by now.

Fitting time on a RAV4.2? - maybe 15 minutes tops

Never bothered me :D , even when I was hauling big push chairs in and out all the time. Each to their own I guess.
