Nice work

I've never seen fly eyes before. Where did you get it from?

I prefer LEDs housed in their own little unit, but if I did the same as you I would add another LED strip to make 2 "L" shaped lights. Main reason is becasue I like to differentiate from the Porche and Audi LED lighting

HIDs are always smart :)

I'm not too fond of your DRL's, but that's because they don't match the OEM lighting:

all lights on the car are round, so these allmost straigh lines of light don't match.

On top of that they're too small; had they been longer and underneath

the entire width of the head light it might have looked better.

My DRL's are round, fitted mimicking the TTE-grille with foglights and looking more OEM...

That fly eyes stuff looks cool, might get some of that for my car.

They look fine as they are. You can have white light showing from the side as you can probably see some of the headlight from the side anyway. You just cant show white light to the rear, other than when reversing of course.

A nice a car, but I need to pick you up on a couple of things (regardless of wether "Joes MOT Shop" says this is OK)

- Tinted Headlamps using Flyeyes

Tinted headlamps are illegal. Using this fly-eye stuff doesn't necessarily get you around this. PC Plod may well still pull you and you'll have to argue it in court. (unless you take the fine and/or 7 day ticket)

-6000K HID kit (Legal as it is properly aimed and adjusted - has passed the MOT check + car is pre '07)

Aftermarket HID conversions to halogen lamp units are NOT legal. You must replace the whole headlamp unit with one which has been built for the specific purpose of holding HID burners.

Also, road spec HID colour is 4300K, not 6000K.

If you ever approach a car running HIDs in Halogen lamps, then you'll know they are pretty bad!

And no, he won't be OK. Even if he doesn't get stopped, he WILL be dazzling people coming the other way. This is why the Department Of Transport have specifically addressed the subject and clarified for everone that aftermarker HID kits fitted to halogen lamp fittings ARE ILLEGAL !!!!

To drive a car like this is totally irresponsible.

You have got a bee in your bonnet about this haven't you! :)

You do realise you have been the first person ever to complain that someone has tinted their headlights, making them darker, and also made them brighter ! That must be a worlds first.

How many cars have you actually seen with tinted headlights and xenon bulbs to be able to judge how bad they will be? I'd guess about zero.

I think these headlight 'tints' will be legal because they aren't actually solid tints, instead they look like a sheet of clear film with coloured dots on them, so probably don't affect performance too much. People used to use the thin coloured strips that normally go down the side of the car to achieve the same effect. I'm not sure there is a legal minimum light level from the headlights, but you may get nicked if they were highly smoked.

I would be more concerned with the HID fitting that is probably illegal for road use in the UK. The cops will be a lot more concerned over these kits and it's not a case that you could argue is a grey area.

To me they look like perforated vinyl, so they're even more "solid" than a usual tint film...

I remember having something similar on the rear windows of my Escort, only static cling...

It's unlikely that the vinyl/film has holes in it it would be too easy to damage, but until the OP comes back we may never know.

Don't be surprised if I'm right :D

Perforated vinyl is tougher than you'd think!

Ever seen a bus with advertising all over, including the

windows? The bits ion the windows are perforated vinyl!!!

Perforatedsticker_closeup001-1.jpg

Found an installation video, listen when he trims the film

after about two minutes; the sound you hear is caused

by the blade ripping through the holes...

The link supplied earlier on from the government says that euro legal lights are also UK legal - obviously... well if you read the euro rules ...before 1/1/07 the car is exempt as long as it follows existing headlight guidelines for example a proper beam projection and shape, not blinding anyone and not a smashed headlamp unit covered in bird sh*t then its ok. Also my dad is a police officer, do you really think he would risk his job by buying me the kit...

Seriously, stop being so cocky and actually check your facts. You can NOT legally retrofit HID burners to a headlamp fixture designed for halogen bulbs. It's as plain and simple as that. What is worse, if the headlamp in question is a reflector (not a refractor) then there will be an incredible amount of light leakage resulting in you blinding other drivers.

Stop being so irresponsible and get some legal lights put in.
