Ok,

So i let my mate borrow my Gen 6 the other day. It was an emergency so no probs with that. However my mate is the type of guy who pulls any and all handbrakes right up to the bl00dy ceiling when parked...! I have told him that keeping the car in gear and using two notches (after any slack) is more than sufficient but unfortunately he doesn't seem to be taking in this information.

Right so whats the problem then??

After borrowing my gen 6 he has managed to add over an inch of slack to my handbrake!!!!?? Now this isn't a major problem but it BUGS THE CR@P OUT OF ME!! LOL!

Can i take up the slack some how so my handbrake feels nice and tight like it used to??

look under the handbrake cover to the side you will see a threaded bar and possibly 2 x 10 mm nuts maybe 1 ( its been a long time ) , take off the handbrake and using a long reach 1o mm socket or a spanner screw the nuts down , this takes up any slack . ideally you want 6 or 7 clicks after tightening as you must have reserve travel on the lever for the mot test . tell your mate to behave or it;ll end up snapping and cost him big bucks.
