  1. The MK4 is the best small automatic car in the world, your one is mk 4.5 shall we call it. Am very satisfied with the normal 116 hp.

  2. Apart from 2 forays into other marques I've pretty much bought Fords, and mostly the XR/ST/RS ones at that, my whole life. I only switched to Toyota due to Ford withdrawing the Fiesta as I really missed the smaller cars. And their obsession with electric only 🤔 So I was always going to be a reluctant soldier and my purchase was going to be full of scepticism and maybe (hopefully not) regret. But I have to say that I absolutely love the Premiere edition because: - I love the blue colour - The body shape is excellent - The economy is amazing - It drives beautifully - It's a technical tour de force. Love playing with the throttle to try and tease as much economy out of it as I can and the HUD is just fab - The adaptive cruise is more intelligent than Ford's - The ability of the speed limiter to match itself to the current speed limit with just one button press is just excellent. I use the speed limiter constantly so this is really good - Mrs Dastardly (Penelope?) loves it - The configuration options on the dashboard are excellent. - It just feels like it's been designed by boffins, rather than people in overalls But it's not all roses 🌹 Some, albeit minor, annoyances. - The engine is quite harsh/growly. Ford's 3 pot system is much smoother and not nearly as loud. - The door handles feel quite flimsy due to being quite thin but I'm sure I'll get used to that. - The positioning of the window controls are a little strange compared to what I am used to. Very high up. Probably just me though - Severe lack of internal storage. Door pockets are tiny, no opportunity to store anything in the centre console - Quite annoying that your personal options, e.g. turning off PCA, resets every time you re-start the engine, unless I'm just being thick - The "Hold" button resetting itself on every journey is bizarre. Should remember the setting or just be a configurable menu option. - Lack of factory options e.g. sunroof, heated seats. Would have paid for both The negatives are just minor/personal really as the positives are so good. Haven't been this happy with a new car acquisition for a long time 👍

  4. Reduced the tyre pressures on my new Excel yesterday; it had been supplied with the tyres set at 39psi front and 36psi rear (no surprise based on others’ experience…). I reset the TPMS, all reporting ok. This morning when I picked up my phone I saw an alert (time stamped 4am) from the myToyota app informing me there had been a sudden loss of pressure. Checked tyres and all are ok; this must have been a delayed message from me deflating the tyres yesterday morning. Really useful, thanks Toyota 🙄

  5. Theoretically if it has been serviced according to schedule (intermediate year 1, full year 2, etc) the next full service should be 2025 (10 years/100K miles). The first coolant change will be due at this service, with subsequent coolant changes every 5 years/50K miles. If you use a Toyota dealer for servicing, I'd be inclined to see what they suggest for this year.

  8. Eh? Dealers will always haggle. I have never, ever paid list. I expect a good % off then start asking for extras: mats, ceramic coat, fuel, free services thrown in and always succeed. As long as you are polite, have done your research (get prices from Carwow/ auto trader/ what car etc and also use forums to see what others are getting as extras or % off) you should always pay well under. if you are fortunate enough to pay cash then getting the pcp deposit allowance and then paying the pcp off within 30 days is always a nice easy win! “Shy bairns get nowt” as they say from my neck of the woods😉

  9. There have been a few reports here. I suggest you do what the message suggests and book the car into a dealer for an examination as soon as possible.

  12. First ensure that the ignition is on as the option is not visible if you are only in Accessory mode. In the main centre console press on the Settings icon then there is a menu link on the left called "vehicle settings" They keyless door/start option is under that. Bear in mind that if you turn it off then you also turn off keyless start you you need to hold your key next to the start button when putting into Ready mode. You'll get a confirmatory beep. This is a minor annoyance but you're getting extra security so I feel it's worth it

  13. Next time I will take the car to the dealer- "Fix!" Yes, I could DIY but why should I? BTW, last car was sold by a very keen, helpful, young kid. Come the time to collect it, another VKHYK did the honours and was very keen to get 10/10 score. Even came out to sort out the connections. Current salesman has a new title, a stubble masquerading as a beard, and will be lucky to get 5/10. Bet he won't go the extra yard.

  15. So today after much deliberation my father in law had ordered a pearl white Excel, alongside my premiere edition ! The dealer are doing us a good deal as we now have x2 24 Yaris Crosses on order with them 🙂 They have said my Yaris Premiere has now moved from order placed to ‘in production’ and showroom delivery ETA is expected July .. wohoo 🥳 progress.

  16. Agreed; Sometimes mine works really well, and other times I have to change the sensitivity switch constantly or give up and override it. Mildly annoying but not the end of the world; As anchs says It's a shame you can't just disable the auto-sensing completely and use the sensitivity switch to control the intermittent interval instead on the newer ones - That would have been my preference!

  17. The discs do look tired and have quite a lip on them. You can't see the friction material of the pads properly without taking the wheels off - and ideally taking the pads out. So we cannot confirm the 'crumbling'. It is possible that the brakes have at some point been sticking and getting very hot. This can cause some pads to disintegrate. The question is, how many mm is left on the pads? If it's near 3 mm on any of them - they should be replaced. How thick are the discs? i.e. how close to the minimum thickness are they? That said, if the pads need replacing, then you do want new discs too. I would not put new pads on those old discs.

  18. I would ask for proof of "crumbling" That is not normal, it could just be a very poor description of course

  19. Heat then cold water can also help then repeat it before trying a screw extractor but a easer method is just to change the brake caliper and return your old unit for a discount off the price. Note if you overheat it you will destroy it!.

  23. Hi Pat, Welcome to our Forum. Surely the Hundai are a well known and fit for purpose vehicles, however Toyota are leading the world market, more reliable, more selling and their customers were and are most happier than even the Germans makes, I did see this on the What car newsletters in the past years, and I owned and still own Toyotas/Lexus.

  24. I live on my own and having been carted off to hospital 8 times with heart problems I wear a multi network sim watch. If I need emergency assistance I just press the button and it calls a 24/7 call centre and they speak to me via the watch. If I don't respond they ring my mobile, my neighbour next and last resort 999. The watch also has GPS tracking/fall detection so they can pinpoint where I am to within about 100m. I can also nominate someone to track my activity. The service costs about £20 month and for me it's worth every penny. Hopefully I won't end up dead on the floor for weeks like my brother.

  26. Have just been able to answer my own question - RTFM! The manual confirms that the existing wheel nuts can be used when fitting a steel space saver and even has an illustration. I got the wheel from a breaker on Ebay £75 and in good nick and good tread. Just waiting now for retaining bolt ordered last week and will then post pictures.

  27. Hi Nikolay, yes it is a shame its not coming to the uk. I came across this article which gave a good write up as well as the video. 2025 Toyota Camry A Refined Ride with Hybrid Efficiency. The 2025 Toyota Camry makes a bold move towards a greener future with its exclusive hybrid powertrain options. This mid-size saloon prioritises comfort, fuel efficiency, and reliability, making it a compelling choice for everyday motoring. Hybrid Power with Punch,The Camry ditches petrol-only options for a hybrid line-up. Choose between a front-wheel-drive variant with a combined output of 208 horsepower and an impressive estimated 51 mpg combined, or opt for the all-wheel-drive version that delivers 232 horsepower with an estimated 44 mpg combined. This translates to significant fuel savings and reduced emissions. Upscale Interior Ambience: Step inside the 2025 Camry and find a noticeably upgraded cabin. Higher-quality materials and a modern design elevate the overall ambience. The base LE trim offers a standard 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while higher trims boast a larger 12.3-inch unit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across all trims, ensuring seamless smartphone connectivity. A Comfort-First Focus: The Camry prioritises a smooth ride and composed handling, making it ideal for cruising on motorways and navigating city streets. While the steering feedback might feel a touch numb, especially on winding roads, it doesn't detract from the overall comfortable driving experience. Overall: The 2025 Toyota Camry (saloon) is a significant improvement, offering a more powerful and fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain alongside a noticeably more refined interior. While it might not be the most exciting choice for driving enthusiasts seeking a sporty feel, it excels in its core strengths – practicality, efficiency, and comfort – making it a strong contender in the mid-size saloon segment.

  28. Could, you said it right. So Two Smartphones on Board GSM connection, Side road phones (in some cases) not enough? What did we all do no so long ago? Gees.... We all died. oh,I am an hologram of my former life. hey, why get out of home. Just stay in. Less danger... Really? No disrespect. What happens if you have an heart attack and are alone at home? Or fall down hit your head and break your hip and your Mobile or any phone are on the other side of the house? Life has become an automated issue and people are all scared. My mother at 89 fell at home, dragged herself to the nearest phone she had at home (only one) and called me. I was 300 Km away. My brother 2 Km, but had his phone off. Yes... without on of us no one would get into the house. I asked her a few things later her answer was in the old days we just lived and survived. I had no phone she said. We screamed for help. The dog would bark, There was always someone around. Those were a words. C'mon guys. Govs control our movement they don't give a hoot about our health or life that is a social gimmick. They would be glad we all lived healthy and without health costs, worked and pay taxes until we dropped. Unhealthy and accident prone people are redundant for them. The GSM is for control. Rules like seat belts were invented to save lives but became a form of revenue for the authorities. Check the Budgets, it is written there how much is estimated every year on Fines revenue. Tendency always increasing. No kidding! Sorry for the rant. I don't really care about e-Call, Black boxes, and such things on my cars. The cars are mine and are private property. I like to ram on them and be free. Dying or not is my choice.

  30. For Gen4 Prius use trip button to show ODO on main display this shows total mileage and overall fuel consumption - as you have already found - when in this screen press and hold trip button until avg mpg shows zero and release trip button. Display will then show average consumption until you do another reset ( a quick press will move to Trip A). Resetting the trip A and B will not affect the overall figure. Hope this makes sense, enjoy your car.

  39. Completed some cosmetic stuff today, courtesy of AliExpress (lol!) Piano black caps for all the doors to complete the look started(!) by Toyota! (cheapskates that they are!) (just noticed that I took that photo before I'd wiped it off properly!) Plus a full set of appropriately blue piped non-slip mats for all the various orifices that could generate rattling noises if objects are left in them! ...and yes, I know I've covered the wireless charger with a mat but since I was able to re-install my phone bracket to almost the same place as in the Red Baron, it will only get used rarely anyway... The mats work really well especially the one in front of the passenger seat where SWMBO tends to dump her house keys! 🤣

  42. I am still plugging in every day and it takes less than a minute to get the ctek5 to show 4 lights. Yesterday I went to the doctors and had to park in a side road about 15 minutes walk from the surgery. I got out of the car and pressed the key......nothing happened so I thought pollocks, the fob battery must be flat. No choice but to walk to my appointment and leave the car unlocked. For the next 45 minutes all I could think of was whether the key fob would start the car. Got back to the car I pressed the fob a few more times with no flashing lights, tentatively got in and.........no wonder it wouldn't lock. It was sitting there in ready mode. At least it had probably charged up the battery but good job it didn't get pinched.

  46. An update. Bought Denso wipers (Made in Japan - a rare thing these days!). Night and day, has solved the juddering and squeaking. Also noticed the connection to the wiper arm is much tighter and has better tolerances. A shame about Bosch wipers, their quality has gone downhill massively in recent years, same as their tools etc.

  47. Hi Andreas, the issue could be a malfunctioning blend door or a problem with the ductwork that directs air to the center vents. The fact that air is coming through the demister vents when it's set to face vents suggests that the blend door may not be properly directing airflow. It's also possible that there could be a blockage in the ductwork leading to the center vents.Try locating the bend door it maybe under the dashboard on the passenger side and see if it's moving properly when you adjust the vent settings. If it's not moving, it may need to be replaced.Hope this helps.

  49. Personally I wouldn't mind the location; I never use my phone while driving - not even for navigation, so I usually have it in my pocket or in one of the many small storage units (often the one beside the parking brake or one of the cup holders) - but with this location I would probably have in the shelf under the steering wheel where I also keep the box with my sunglasses, the door pocket or even in the door handle. The first generation Yaris have so many amazing storage facilities!

  50. Hi all I have an update … After waiting a few weeks the part arrived from eBay so I got straight to work. My first thought was to just get the USB part fitted into the blanking space on the dashboard , turns out I brought the wrong size so spend a few day sanding the plastic down to fit. After this I popped down to Halfords and got a mini piggyback fuse lead and some assorted fuses. I crimped the positive from the usb lead to the piggyback lead and plugged it into the acc fuse on the fuse box. Next I removed the footwell trim and grounded the black cable to a bolt. gave everything a test and it works ! As for the location i agree having loose cables isn’t safe however i have a phone holder on the windscreen and will only be using one of the small charging cables so nothing will be swinging around Also thats for the replies !
