  1. Here I am contemplating the upgraded UX (with torture buzzer) and this buzzer thing raises its ugly head. I have a little pre flight ritual of turning the “you will stay in lane even if I drag you into the cones on a completely empty dual carriageway because you didn’t indicate” device, the auto hold on. I also turn my side lights on to save shining my headlights up my neighbours house across the street. I suppose I could learn to speed disable the snowflake speed warning or I could locate the buzzer and stuff it full of blutac although I know the prospect of disabling the woohoo noise generator really upset some members on here. These noise makers are sometimes only a pin hole and take a bit of finding. I wonder if the UKs only traffic cop would get upset if he saw my legs over anchorwoman’s shoulders while she was constantly shifting between 30 and 30.5 mph? You need your head under the dash for such an investigation. Final option is keep the one I’ve got but there doesn’t seem much point living without changing cars at a ridiculous rate.

  9. Help! On my old C-HR I could easily access my trip readings and reset them using a button on the steering wheel, how do I do the same on my new 2024 C-HR GR Sport? For the life of me I cannot find how to quickly access and reset either of the two trips (although I have found how to set each up for average speed, distance and/or total time)?

  10. Thanks for this. It seems like to access Trip A and B easily, I’ll have to remove one of the screen default views I already find useful. On the left I have the MPG since last re-fuel and on the right I have the diagram showing where the drive is coming from. Using the default Sport display, can I change the middle display from Settings to Trip, keeping the other displays I already have?

  11. Default will be Summer tyres in UK. I am just about to change all 4 (17") tyres on my car. Waiting until after 20k service as wheel alignment is (listed as) part of that. So my OE Falkens have got to 20k (and are still legal) although I swapped front to rear etc at about 13k. I find my car has been very challenging on the little bit of snow etc down here, and poor too on loose surfaces or wet grass etc. And I do travel North many times each year, So next tyres will be all season - likely CrossClimates.

  13. Thanks don, problem I’ve got is having somewhere to get it done, I’m hoping it can be done at work otherwise it will mean taking a day’s holiday to get it done at home, and I have precious few of those, I guess they don’t work weekend’s either..

  14. Best to just ask the dealer if the car has had the DCM module software updated. Also: There was also a recall for a software update to the heating system for ‘cold’ working, it would effectively make a grinding noise. It is still apparent it’s working when it’s cold but a lot better. There was also a DC-DC converter recall, the whole module was replaced. All of these have been covered extensively at one time or another in this forum. Otherwise, take your own advice, sit back, drive and enjoy. I found coming from other makers, as @Nick72 has indicated it took a little time to dive through the various set ups not only within the car menus but also by setting up a Toyota account and going into that account registering the car and then making additional car setups. The online account is where you can order map updates etc. (also covered in the forum) Download, if you haven’t already, the My Toyota app and go through the process of adding the car and registering the Navigation (head unit), can be a tricky process. I and others have changed some of the various light bulbs to LED’s some make a massive difference, reversing lights, boot light, puddle lights and may be of interest.

  15. Hi all, as we have been discussing battery problems in other posts on Thursday evening my car refused to start. It did unlocked itself though with keyless but then after no brake booster sound and obviously no start, the interior lights were dimmed. I have tried to recharge with smart charger in auto mode with 0.8amp supply and after 30-40 min battery shows full 13.0v , disconnected the charger and voltage dropped to low 11.2v, and 10v after a while, definitely a new battery was needed. I booked for collection from nearest GSF car parts a Yuassa S46B24R for £174 with 10% discount but next day they didn’t have it in stock so I rung Toyota local dealer and they had one for only £136, it looks the same battery with Toyota labels. With the use of smart charger I jump started the old lady and collected the new battery, all fitted in easily, similarly to the hybrid battery replacement very enjoyable experience. Anyone looking for a new battery either big or the small one , just buy from Toyota dealer. 👍 The original battery does look indeed the one supplied with the car back in 2010. , AGM - good technology 👌⚡️

  16. Here’s the mount I have, you have a choice of locations as it’s on a swinging arm that clips onto the vent. It’s secure for a 6.5” phone: Search for - AiHiwvol Cell Phone Holder for Car Vent [Longest Hook] on Amazon

  17. Agreed.... And that's why most High mileage drivers avoid ev's unless it's a company car and then you get massive tax breaks.. Brother has a kia niri ev... £48000 and he pays a massive £14 a month car tax no brainer really but he keeps his own Auris hybrid for longer journeys 😳😳😳😂😂

  18. Hello all, I understand the Yaris (mine is an Excel) comes with Predictive Efficient Drive, which according to Toyota: Learns driving patterns to increase deceleration and regenerative braking in places where one usually decelerates (the green leaves which appear in the sat nav) Has Predictive state-of-charge control (SOC), which when the sat nav is on can read the road ahead (uphill vs downhill, traffic,...) and optimize batter charging and discharging to maximize EV operation and minimize fuel consumption My question is: has anyone ever experimented with the Predictive state-of-charge control to understand if fuel consumption is effectively lower, and by how much? If that is the case, then I would start using the in-built sat nav more often (even if I don't really need directions; I can always mute it). Thank you all!

  20. To stop that happening, they’ve buried it so deep in the menus, it takes three hours to reach it… well, I think Colin said 8 presses!

  21. The thing is that to work it needs the elevations along the route ahead. I suspect most satnavs don't have that information in their databases - it would be a lot more data with no value for normal 2D navigation.

  24. Maybe i'm too old school, and nothing against online records, but I still like to keep a stamped up service book and paper records of service in my file, as it kind of better shows I care. And as someone else said, if I sell privately, it looks better to the new owner. Electronic records only are all well and good, but they are faceless, and don't show any personal attention to detail in looking after the vehicle.

  25. I can’t answer for sure but it does reset something because after reconnect the battery the car doesn’t start with press on brake pedal and push start button but requires twice to do so and then starts . Every time the car goes into ON mode ( all lights are ON on dashboard the throttle body valve and egr vale are moving, I can hear them their actuators are working so it is likely similarly to non hybrid cars the engine gets reset its values and settings to default ones.

  26. That is all a nuisance for sure, hope it's all easily sorted. Sometimes we all just have a good run of bad luck. Maybe all over now, and trouble free into the future 🙂

  30. I read it in the manual but just assumed it would only work if you used the car satnav which I never do. Must admit did not look in settings to see if I had the feature on a UK spec Excel.

  31. I remember someone, I think a recent-ish RAV4, possibly PHEV, owner, discovering this on theirs and found it did change how the car charged and did make a noticeable improvement in fuel efficiency! None of us had heard of it before and assumed it was a weird fluke, but turns out they did have this tech listed in their specs and we later found out it was a real thing!

  33. Mm, this seems new to me and very interesting. Did Toyota really made their hybrids so smart, and how does these new additions works in real world scenarios will be nice to learn more about it. 👌

  34. Whilst the number of button presses to turn it off, yet retain road sign recognition, is well into double figures it's only a small handful to turn off RSA. It's a case of choose your poison

  35. What's even worse is when you ARE driving under the speed limit, but it's still beeping at you because it thinks the speed limit is e.g. 20mph when it isn't! I don't know if the new models have significantly better sign identification and rejection, but if this was active in mine all my journeys would go something like *beep beeep beep* IT'S A 40 ZONE! I'M DOING 40! *beep beeep beep* DAMN YOUR CIRCUITS INFERNAL MACHINE! *beep beeep beep* GRRABALFLELFL *foaming at the mouth* Not a good look when I eventually arrive at the job site...! I think if it was the polite gentle dinging that you used to get in '80s and '90s JDM cars when you went above <some speed I forget> it wouldn't be so bad, but it's the same obnoxious warning beep that all the other beeping beeps beeping make in the beeping car, and it's beeping distracting as beep!

  36. Yaris MY24 here (same colour and spec as yours). You can't turn it off permanently. It is like that for all EU cars after 2024. Fortunately, it is less annoying than I thought it would be.
    1 point
  37. It is worse than that because in practice it is likely to be repeatedly turned off, thereby preventing an audible warning when more significant speeding has occurred.
    1 point
  38. I must admit, there are certain defeat options that should be done away with like engine stop that won’t meet emissions standards without it but this thing dinging away when you breech the limit by even one mile per hour is a pain.

  39. So far they’ve locked this one down Tony. It’s new legislation that calls for some form of speed warning or limitation.
    1 point
  40. This will be annoying when an indicated 30mph, is in fact 28 mph (as shown on sat nav).

  41. That's very unfortunate with 2024 models. I have 2023, set it to visual only and it stays that way. Probably wouldn't want to upgrade to 2024 version in the future. Get myself an excel with tech park or the launch edition.

  42. Looking at the other threads, every time you start your car you have to turn those settings off. It's part of the safety system, not saving your preferences. Annoying you and teaching you how to drive, is part of the "new safety systems".

  43. You wouldn’t need to hang many before even the thickest of these lower life forms paid attention. I got burgled not so long ago. They took the wife’s jewellery (some of which were family heirlooms), all my cordless power tools and my top of the range CX-5. The CID fella that came said that on the rare occasion that the woke law allowed a conviction, they got a warm bed away from the screaming newborn offenders, four square meals, a pool table and a play station, a lounge to sit and discuss improved methods of crime and when they were reluctantly evicted, they had to go back to it because the firm had been feeding the offender nest. Of course it was all the working blokes fault for them not having a job and a conscience. Where’s the rope?

  44. It always struck me that DRLs were intended as an effective means of culling motorcyclists. Motorbikes, even on dipped headlights, can vanish into a mass of other lights. Cyclists haven't really changed. Flashing lights are irritating, but improve visibility. The sensible ones are still aware of their vulnerability and behave sensibly. The minority seem to have a death wish. Sadly, it seems that road planners, and those who create traffic laws, are required to be non-drivers.

  45. Hi all, as I received my car quite a few weeks ago already, I would like to provide some reply on my own questions so these can support someone else. It is very similar to a closed roof Aygo X. The noise level is the same, but you have a new origin of noise in the roof, this is obvious specially while driving through tunnels or under bridges, when you can feel the difference. Except those cases, there is almost no difference for me and I am very happy with it, it is OK even travelling long distances at 120kph in the highway (according to my Apple Watch, noise level is the same at this speed -> 67-68dB in both cases). No more humidity or water ingress issue, even while washing the car with high pressure. As a surplus, I do enjoy every moment of sunlight!

  49. Software in latest 2024 model doesn’t allow you to permanently silence the beeps. A consequence of EU legislation unfortunately. You can’t even apply an offset to add a few mph to the speed at which the alert occurs 🙁
