Avensis: Suddenly All Dashboard Lights Come On And Car Loses All Power

Wonder someone could help me out here. I had a look at some forums and found similar problems with toyota camry.

My Avensis suddenly loses all power with all the dashboard lights coming on suddenly and even starts sliding back inspite of the brakes being applied.It has happened thrice and everytime it did I was idling at a traffic light applying the brakes.I put the engine off immediately and then started the car again and it works and has been running.But I am worried specially about whether it would happen again but this time when the car is at a full speed.

Any help,suggestion would be welcomed.Anyone with similar experiences?

has it been recently serviced or is it due a service?

I'm a recent convert to Toyota son not sure if true on Toyotas but afaik most modern cars retain fault information in memory for a certain no. of starts so next time that it happens if you can nip into a Toyota dealer & get them to stick it on their diagnostics.
