Does anyone know what could cause a large volume of water to accumulate in the rear nearside passenger footwell?

There appears to be no external leak (sunroof, windows etc) I can only think that somehow it is either coming thtough the floor vents or from under the car when going through deep puddles.

The usual culprits are the A/C grommet (A/C blank) in the engine bay, floor grommet missing or if the water is flowing forward from the luggage area, check the seating of the air vents behind the bumper.

I have spent considerable effort tracing leaks in my '97 Carina E - Hatchback.

My hatchback had a leak in the mastic seal around the rear quarter light behind the rear passenger door (fitted in the bodywork). I removed it carefully and applied new mastic and refitted it.

Also, the vent fitted in the boot near the bumper leaked and filled the cavity behind the wheel.
