Gti Wont Take Full Trottle

hi lads.

i'm having a little trouble with my 91 gti corolla.it wont take full trottle at all.it gives a splutter and some hesitation when i put the accelerator to the floor.if i feather on the trottle and gradually put down the accelerator the car will pull away fine.it idles perfect.does not misfire.

i have checked the dizzy,leads,any idea what it could be.as i said the car drives fine at half trottle but wont take full.

any help appreciated.

Have you tried doing it from the engine bay, just twisting the throttle lever?

the lever is working fine its just hesitates and goes down on power when i put the accelerator down hard but pulls away fine when i ease it down gradually.

Fuel starvation? I bet the filter has never been changed
