Over-Drive On 89 Masterace / Hiace

Hi there,

I'm Simon and I've just bought a toyota masterace surf. Its basically

a hiace.

It appears that my van has 3 gears and an overdrive button, however,

when i press the over drive button it does not engage the overdrive.

Does anyone know what may cause this? could it be a fuse or something

more serious?

I would really appreciate any suggestions.
