Noise From Front Wheels

Hi everyone,

Getting a noise which appears to come from the front wheels. Noise I would describe as almost a grinding/squeal. Noise comes and goes but primarily happens in reverse. When it happens going forwards it goes away when braking.

One thought was brake pads and the wear indicator. Had a look at those and they only have a couple of mm's left so are best replaced. But it does not appear the wear indicators are in contact with the disc from what little I can tell without removing the caliper. But conventional wisdom would seem to suggest the noise should increase when braking?

Thanks in advance

Mine did the very same thing!

It was the tinware disc cover rotten and touching the disc, worse turning one way.

jack car up and spin wheel by hand then pull the cover and try again.

Ah I guess you mean what I would call the splash plate at the rear of the brake disc? Cheers will have a closer look.
