Can the little blue solenoid valve (that sits on the side of the airbox) which operates the in evaporation circuit cause the engine fault lamp to come on, if the plug came loose?

Yes! anything which concerns the emissions of the engine in any way should illuminate the engine management lamp.

Geoff thanks for the reply.

The lamp went out after a day or so. Had the code read and it was for that circuit
