Wondering can the dash/instrument panel be changed from digital to needle type gauge ? Not really liking this digital one as the fuel bars are on and off too much and confusing!

The 1.6 Auris has analogue instruments, but not sure whether the two types of instrument cluster are interchangeable - as far as I'm aware the 1.6 instrument cluster won't have the 'eco' lights for the stop/start system.

As regards the fuel gauge, it doesn't operate in a linear fashion. When the tank is filled the first couple of bars take a while to extinguish, and the remaining bars extinguish more rapidly as the fuel decreases. As an example of how it operates, see: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/157794-auris-133-fuel-bar-fuel-consumption-and-all-that-stuff/

Also if one tops up by less than 15 litres, the gauge can give false readings.

Toyota use the same type of gauge across a variety of models (Auris, IQ, Yaris, etc), and once you get used to how it operates it doesn't cause an issue - I've had two Auris and not had a problem (ie never run out of fuel)..
