Is it worth it...?

In March I am due an IQ (2014, 49,000 miles) Service and MOT. ( No known issues.)

Q. Do I stay with my trusted local independent (possibly cheaper) or go with a local Toyota Dealer (possibly a bit more expensive) and gain the 12 Months Relax Warranty as well?

Or do I just flip a coin?

The relax warranty only lasts for 10 years or 100,000 miles which ever is the sooner. So I would stay with your independent. Hope this helps.👍

Piers, I suggest you ask your local Toyota dealer the price for your next service rather than assume.

There are other considerations too.  Do you wait while it is serviced?  Do you get a loan car? Is it a collect and return option?  Which is more convenient?

With my Mercedes, having been ripped off by the main dealer in Boston* I used a local father/son outfit, they were engineers and specialists - collect and deliver and free loan - so no contest.

*the price 20 years ago was 3 times the charge for a main Toyota service at the same dealership.

If the price difference between franchise and non- franchise isn't too large and you are getting the same service performed by both I'd be leaning towards franchise to obtain the free 1 year warranty.

I would be more keen to go franchise next year ie before 10 years after first registration.

All good advice thank you all.

I'll have to do a price comparison... and see what difference there is.
