“Hey Toyota” - did anyone notice?

Things you can say and the system will respond accordingly:

"Hey Toyota I'm freezing"

“Hey Toyota my passenger is cold”

“Hey Toyota let's go home”

If I say "Hey Toyota” the response comes from the speaker on the right.

If my passenger says "Hey Toyota” the response comes from the speaker on the left.

So the car knows who is making the request and can act accordingly.

That means the passenger can say "Hey Toyota I'm freezing"

Anyone else found anything interesting about the voice commands system?

It will refuse certain commands if they come from the passenger seat.

Got any examples of commands it'll refuse?

Knew you'd ask... I think it was opening/closing the windows, unfotunately it was a one-off.

I don't use the Toyota voice control much, passengers only try if I tell them to.

I can't use voice to open/close the windows from the driver's seat either. 🤷‍♂️

I tested with my daughter in the passenger seat but couldn't find anything that wouldn't work in the passenger seat.

Say "Hey Toyota, call John Smith"

or

"Hey Toyota, call 01202 123456"

That'll work if you're connecting your phone via bluetooth and not using Android Auto or Apple Carplay.

You can, but you need to ask Google instead of Toyota.

If you use your phone for Android Auto, so you can use Google maps etc. Android Auto handles your phone as well.

In that case hold down the voice key to put Google into listening mode and use your voice to initiate calls.

"Call the wife"

"Call the office"

"Call John Smith"

etc.
