Check out the Japanese original. It came out a while back and has just been released on DVD. At least they've kept the same director for this American re-make though. Unlike the complete hash-up of Ring and they're remaking Ring 2 now :ffs:

Japanese horror rules. Far more scary than *any* US film Recommend: Eye, Ring, Ring 2, Ring 0 and Dark Water.

Then again i'm not easily startled; not after being brought up on halloween, Knightmare on Elm Street and Jason etc etc. lol
