My car is onyl a year old, yes, but it has over 20K on the clock already, so it's had a 10K and 20K service. ;)

If you look in the manual, it's a 2 year, or 20K service. Your service should be either every 10K or 1 year, which ever comes first. ;)

Looking down the list in mine, in the manual the Full service is:

Replace Oil and filter. That's it.

The rest fall unders inspection, which include:

Inspect Engine coolant, air filter, spark plugs, cooling & heating system hoses and connections, air con filter, fuel tank, lines, connections and veypour control, body inspection, brakes, clutch, power steering, suspension, tyres, wheels, fluids, etc....

Then you've got other changes at the next 2 services, as outlined in your manual.

Hmmm... might be different for P2... I have 2 types of service... Intermediate and full... full is every 2 years 20k miles and includes quite a fair bit. The intermediate is what you say, but the full one replaces quite a lot!

You could well be right there mate.

My guessing is that they laid out a service plan for the P1's, and then decided that they didn't actually need that much doin at the 2nd service afterall, and so changed the service plan for the P2's.

Still got to book in my second year 20k service.

Have been quoted £196 for the service + whatever needs changing/fixing.

It's alot for a stamp lol.

If someone knows where i can buy a toyota stamp and do the work myself i'll be happier lol.

ahhh i wish.

You don't need a Toyota stamp, unless you want a FTSH.

As long as a car is serviced, and using Toyota genuine parts, it can be serviced by anyone whilst under warranty. ;)

I had my 40k service with toyota on saturday and that was about £150. Changed practically all the fluids in the car and did alot of inspecting. Also cleaned the ol brakes out

Cheers folks......the main reason why I want to get it done at Mr T is in case they find any problems with it and I can get them to fix it under warranty!

After this service I'll get it done cheaper at a local garage  !

I believe they call that "daylight robbery"...

I've just phoned to check how much mine would be for a the 20k on a D-4D and I'm getting back £137.76. The lady aslo said that was pretty much a maximum price and it should come in under that...

Can I suggest you shop around?

It's a shame Alan, but it's horrendous pricing.

Cheapest I found from Toyota round here was £170!

Needless to say, I went to the Toyota chappie in Northampton instead - over £100 cheaper!

I bought my car when it was 4 years old with 18,500 miles on the clock & no service history, would the equivalent of the 20k service have been done when the car was 2 years old?

I heard I can get a copy of the history off Mr T, assuming some work was done by a Toyota garage, is this true?

It should be whatever comes first, 1 year or 10K miles, so yup, your 2yr service should be the equivalent of the 20k service.

Just had my local garage do the full service (and lets face it, 5 year old car with 85000 on the clock.....it needs regular servicing!), with everything replaced, checked and checked again - all toyota parts...and I parted with a mere £109.

Service & MOT mate!

Cheers mate, i wasn't sure.

Good job i checked the service book driving home, they didn't even stamp it. Had to do a quick u-turn and they signed it once they saw they didn't already.

Had a 1.0l courtesy car, with all extras on, least i know now what should be under my plastic covers lol.

Yup - just checked service manual, and it's 4 yrs, 40K.

The Toyota dealer at stratford said "we do the brake fluid change at 20K."

I pointed out that the service manual says, it doesn't need to be done till 40K, but they said "We do it anyway."

Fuel injection cleaner? At 20K? Interesting....

Wipers, screen wash, etc, I would've got myself personally.... And £7 for an oil filter!!!!

Hi All

Please can someone offer some advice regarding servicing.

I have 51 plate 1.0 S with 28096 miles on the clock, i bought it in March this year with 20076 on the clock.

I bought it used from a dealer who serviced it for me, this is were i have a bit of a problem. In the service book it had its first service after a year at 5000ish miles, 2nd service at 12000 after another year and then serviced again when i bought it. This was at 20,000 miles a couple of months late, but above the stamp they have recorded the mileage at 28882 miles instead of 20076!

What should i do if i take it back to the garage can they change the service record? Is it ok just to wait til I hit 30,000 miles or March?

your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Leesy

I'd take it back to the garage and get them to re-stamp it with the actual mileage it had done.

As for your service, every 10,000 miles or a year whichever comes 1st!
