78mpg is impressive, but how much will the lithium-ion batteries cost? As someone else pointed out here, you could spend £9k on the Amberjack conversion, but you'd never truly recoup the costs unless you cover 250,000 miles.

Ordinary cars are not assets, they just lose money. If you can afford a plug-in conversion, one view point is that what is being bought is a way to avoid some local polution that would otherwise occur from running the gasoline engine.
