Is your heating working ok now?

They may have just done an oil change and put rad weld in her and hope it lasts the 500 miles. Keep an eye on your water

Blue smoke = oil

White smoke = water

Black smoke = over fuelling

Will do fella

Just rang them and asked for a report of what has been done, what has gone in etc Said it would be no probs, so should get it in the post monday. The heating was working OK, the only thing I wasnt sure about was the fan comes on a fair bit, but that is after 30mins or so of driving and only when idleing. Think its normal?

Im going to have my mate look over it tomoz just to make sure, also give her some serious welly over the weekend see if anything else goes.

I dont think they would have just stuck in some rad weld, as they have spent a fair bit so far. Seem pritty good to be honest, best after sales ive ever had on any motor ive bought.

Lets hope all is well so I can get on with the suspension etc

Its had a a full oil change and the dipstick is golden brown all the way down now

This would indicate they have put too much oil in ..... :P :D

Yeah, that's normal. As the rad is getting cold air when you're driving, it usually just kicks in when you're standing still :)

The engine doesn't use unormally long time on getting up at working temps? And it's not blowing smoke? I saw someone mentioned rad weld, it doesn't fix blown head gaskets.. I think you can relax mate, if it was down to the gasket it must have been replaced if it's working now :)

Yeah gets upto normal temp in standard time I think and its never gone over half way, and there is no smoke blowing with standard driving. Only a little now in lift ...say from 2nd to 3rd. Been told by my mate who had a celica 190 last year that they do kick a bit out if theve not been driven properly in a while  so ill see how she goes.

still got 400 miles left on the warrenty so ill give a good test over the next few weeks

  • 2 weeks later...

Well looks like my T-Sport is going back into the dealer....Again :censor: :censor:

When I got the car back the oil was up to the max line on the dip stick, 180 miles later and its at the minimum. Rang my local Mr T and spoke to the head engineer. Told him about the oil thirstiness and the smoke it was kicking out in lift and he recons it could be the piston rings and the valve stem seal :crybaby:

Also he told me that because there will be oil passing through the cat converter it would prob need a new one as well :crybaby: :censor:

He said that with only 54000 on the clock and 6 service stamps it should no way be burning that much oil, so I needed to kick off with the garage I bought it from and get them to sort it.

Also, apparently it has to go to a toyota dealer to be checked because if they scratch the wrong part of the engine (apparently this does happen) it will have to have an entire new engine

Booked the car in AGAIN to the dealer for wednesday and told them about the recommendations from Mr T. They didnt seem to concerned and said that they had to get it sorted as that was part of there warranty :yahoo:

I will be keeping a eye on them though so I dont get fobbed off, but told them everything toyota had said and that I want everything documenting that they do so I know it has been done.

Gutted though, looks like Ill be driving the wind powered 206 again for a while

Ill update again as soon as I know anything :help:

This thread will get longer than the lord of the rings by the looks of things

Gutted for you fella, but stick to your guns :2guns: & get whats owed to you, youve done the right thing asking for documentation.

All this new stuff should have a warranty as well to ensure that 4 mths down the line you dont get a repeat.

Stark contrast to mine and many others though .... good luck

i thought getting a corolla would be problem free to be honest, read loads of positive reviews about them when i was looking to down grade from my previous motor (this site helped alot) but well see if they get it fixed or not. I will be :censor: if they dont get it done ASAP

even more gutted cuz ive got mods on order that i want to fit in the next week or so :crybaby:

How do!!!! , been checking this site out for ages now and finally bought myself a T-Sport. I think I found a gooden but I have never had a toyota before and dont know whats normal or not (or weather im being paranoid)

can anybody give me a heads up?? When I boot it and hit the magic lift there seems to be slight smoke coming from the zorst?? Has anybody else had this??

When I bought the car (2 weeks ago) it had just had a service but checked the oil and it seemed to have drunk a fiar bit, I did by it from a car supermarket and I know they cut corners but it is normal for it to use oil quickly. I stuck in some 5w 30w from halfords (part sinthetic) and that seems to be going down as well.

Any advice on the above and what oil you guys use???

Cheers for reading

Well had a call today from the dealer, after me chasing for 2 days  and instead of taking it apart they have filled it with oil again and ran it for 100 miles, he says that it has not dropped but he will give it untill moday and do roughly 500 miles to see what happens.

Reminded him of that they filled her up and the oil level was under min when I dropped it off, asked him if he thought I had drained the oil out just to be funny  and that i had to put in a little to actually drive the car to them.

There is no way on this earth any car should eat all the oil in any car in over 150 miles and kick out smoke when above 5k. My ST220 never drank a drop and that was by no means a standard motor and it was driven hard

I have a feeling they are going to fob me off and leave me with a big bill on this. So a call to trading standards is in order i think.............in fact :censor: it im going to call the guy back and give him another :censor: just so he knows im serious!!!!!

i will think twice before buying from a car supermarket again :censor: :censor: :censor:

p.s. feel better now i vented some anger

Yeah i couldnt believe that either, they recon they needs to see weather the oil is going down. I have called back to speak to the guy again as I am now fully :censor: off to be honest.

I feel like they are saying that I must be wragging it around to burn off all the oil, but like ive said to them the average MPG is 34.3 cuz ive not really been driving it as I thought i might knacker it completely, the term used to them is "limping around" which you dont by a car like this to drive it like a 1.1 feista?

I took the milage before i dropped it off so i know exactly how many miles they do. When I dropped it off they said that it was booked in with toyota to get it investigated and then they say this

I was driving when he called and my sprog was playing hell so when i asked about the smoke he say that they had not noticed any. But he would get the macanic to give a full report by Monday.

I left the guy a message (3 x times now) saying that If they do not find the oil level drops I want it confirming in writing and I will take it to toyota, take the expensive of the investigation and then take them to court for the repair costs etc

I am gutted to say the least as Mr T will be expensive I think?

I pray to the lord of fuel injectors and extra BHP they actually do smothing about it :crybaby:

Any advice on what to do next?? Brick wall at the moment???

Good point well made, i will be asking for one come monday if they dont give me the answers and proof I need.

Annoying though, as I have springs arriving next week, to be fitted the week after. My mates booked me in to have the go faster stone chips sorted mid june which was a favour at very cheap money. Ordered some T-Sport mats from my brother in law (who gets them at trade price, ask no questions  ) which i will have to put on hold.

But I supose the springs will fit another and any other i get will defo have stone chips......

A bit of an update -

Got a call back this morning from some services director, who apparently took my car home last night to give it a good drive. He says hes done another 100 miles and just checked the oil level and it is on the minimum mark.

So.......

They have booked it in to have the engine stripped and the fault identified. He actually said to me he thinks it is the piston rings or a oil switch??? I have never heard of an oil switch before or know how that could affect the burning of the oil???

Said to me that they had to get it authorised as the repair would be expensive, and they had agreed to do it. Reminded his of the sales of good act and that it was not fit for purpose anyway so they really did not have an option :ffs:

so its a waiting game now :crybaby:

A bit more progress, make sure you find out which dealer is doing the work, then head down and speak to the mechanics direct for their opinion, then see what the supermarket say.

They will be loosing a fortune on this deal so keep the pressure up so they don't do a bodge, i would contact Trading Standards at this stage and tell them story, hopefully they can advise on the correct way to keep things documented encase it gets nasty.

This is beginning to sound like the previous owner knew of the fault and got out of the car, however if its sorted properly then all will end well.

ive asked who its going to and all they would say is its a specialist garage in chester, means nothing to me could be any. Im going to call again on monday any way just to keep them on there toes and see if I can find out.

I did call trading standards yesterday just so ive raised the issue and have a ref number in case i need it, apparently according to them the supermarket does not have to give me any paperwork for jobs done and I need to record everything myself. I have done dates, milage when dropped off, what it went in for and what they have said. Also conversations, times and dates.

Had a alot of experience with trading standards in my job ;) , so i think im doing the right thing.

They said that the car must be fit for purpose going by age, milage and service etc And it is there responsibility to prove it was at the time of sale. It's a bit of a grey area really. But I will fight tooth and nail to get them to sort it.

The longer I have owned it I have thought it has been either hammered by the previous owner, with it having grooved/drilled discs or the previous owner, like I would, have got rid due to the faults.

Thanks for the advice fella, ill keep on keeping on

Ok so another update but far from the last me thinks

after days and days of chasing and getting they are still investigating it. finally get a call back this morning, 11 days after I had dropped it off :o

Apparently they have stripped the engine back and the piston rings are shot, so they have ordered some and they will be fitted on tuesday, I asked him weather they will replace the CAT, becuase as far as im aware it will have oil in it and will continue to smoke after the rings have been replaced? He didnt think that was the case so was going to check with the garage.

so with the bank holiday it looks like ill be waiting for another week before i get her back,

BRING BACK THE ROLLA :wacko::crybaby:

Im kind of glad I have had all this done now, out of someone elses pocket. Maybe there will be a happy ending
