Yes I would agree for those short journeys that’s about right just in case make sure the thermostat is working properly radiator top hose should be cold until thermostat opens that redex fuel system cleaner is much cheaper from euro car parts.

Yes, this one works great. I use 250ml bottles usually Wilko sells them half price often, and yes 125ml for a full tank then drive till two bars of fuel left, add another 125ml and fill up again. I do use it from time to time, recently noticed a lots of knocks on cold start and I use some of this , no knocks anymore and the car drives much better, shell petrol not good at all. BP and Tesco seems better quality IMO in my area.

Search through the forums for Toyota Corolla spare wheel this has been brought up before someone done it but I can’t remember who. I asked the parts guy at my Toyota dealers about a spare wheel he said yes they were available but you wouldn’t want to do it as it would be about a £1000!! I have bought one of those emergency tubeless plug kits on eBay which seems to have good reviews if I get a puncture and then get it plugged properly at a tyre fitters when time allows. Just out of interest I had my auris nearly 6 years and had 1 puncture and that was through the side wall which rendered the tyre u/s anyway

For short journeys started from cold I actually reckon that's not too bad. Years ago I had a 1.6 petrol Fiat that would get about 16 MPG under those conditions! My old Citroen Xantia 1.9 diesel would get around 25 MPG on the same run. Short runs in cold weather absolutely kills MPG.

Hi, that’s pretty normal I think. For that type of journeys you made average around 30s to 40s can be only in hot summer days but this time of the year it’s impossible , at the moment is even worse, freezing cold outside not typical for Uk winters. If cars are all serviced, tyres are all set correct pressure there is nothing to worry about. You may want to put some petrol injector cleaner into the tank this will help a bit with consumption and will clean the internals plus stabilise the fuel. Redux red bottle does a great job. 👍🚗

I find mine very thirsty too. Just make sure you're not carrying unnecessary weight in your car and keep your tyres at right PSI to do your bit for the MPG. Has it been serviced regularly?

The USB stick needs to be formatted in fat 32 on a PC (mac doesn't format in fat32 reliable) no bigger that 32gb as you are dealing with 10 year old hardware designs What radio do you have, Touch2 ?

Sam you have to do all the checks and find all the previous history of the car that you possibly can. No of previous owners, MOT history, check with Toyota is the service history available, mileage genuine, state of the tyres, battery, etc. Take a knowledgeable person with you on a lengthy test drive, and if all is genuine then it’s a matter for you to agree a price. Toyota Yaris is generally a great reliable little car so the choice is yours. Hope this is of some help, good luck.

You have chased lots of possible scenarios for this but have you done as flash22 suggested earlier and put it back to original fitment (and wiring if anything was changed/altered) and then see if the problem persists or not? Unless you do that you have no idea whether you are chasing a real issue or not. Looking at it from a different angle it is still possible to come to a definite conclusion 'why' the LED lights flicker but you need the necessary diagnostic skills and test equipment to troubleshoot it (circuit and component theory and equipment such as an oscilloscope) as you are looking for clues to a symptom that may or may not be related to an actual problem.

Not all key fobs have a red light, most do, but not all. When they drop below 3V it's time to replace, some weird things happen with a low voltage, usually you need to get closer and closer to the door before it opens, or on some models, you get the warning light on the dash. You would not be marooned if you have a keyless type of fob and the battery in the key went flat, hold the fob over the start button and press to start the car. I have people come in to say they have never replaced the batteries in years and seem surprised they need to spend a fiver, others will need replacing yearly, depends on use etc

Low idle speed reduces the frequency of the ripple voltage because the alternator is not turning as fast. The alternator output is not pure DC but consists of three overlapping 'half sine' voltages. At lower speeds your eye can detect the change in brightness as the voltage changes. Its a bit like watching old films. You can see the low frame rate as 'flicker'. As frame rate is speeded up the movement in the picture becomes smoother because your eye can not then follow the very rapid changes. Same with the alternator. The alternator produces the three sine wave voltages shown in the lower left of the diagram. Each is 120 degrees apart. The lower right shows the rectified voltage (by the diodes in the alternator). You can see it is not pure. The 'load' in this example would be the battery and car electrics. The alternator is 'pulsing' the battery with those peaks and that is what you see as ripple.

So here is an update regarding the theft of the catalytic converter from our January 2019 Toyota Auris Tourer Friday 11th September 2020 "My wife took her elderly friend for a birthday treat at a local pub Friday 1tth September. This is in a nice rural village just outside of Lichfield Staffordshire. Just over an hour later she drove away from the pub and as the car was in EV mode the engine didn’t kick in until she was half way down the road and then the inevitable roar of the exhaust brought her quickly to a stop" Wednesday 18th Novemebr So after a wait of 10 weeks, yes 10 weeks we finally received the car back from Steven Eagell Toyota with a New Toyota Catalytic Converter duly fitted on Friday 13th November 2020. From the outset our insurers, Direct Line have been quite helpful, we were provided with a hire car but as we had taken out the minimum cover for hire car this was only free for three weeks and we upgraded because the basic policy only allows for a small car. After three weeks we returned the hire car but Steven Eagell at Tamworth kindly provided us with a nice Aygo courtesy car FOC , whilst at the same time requesting some support from Toyota GB. So it came as some surprise when a few days alter I received an email from Farmer and Carlisle at Leicester informing us the Toyota were going to provide us with car. So a few day later we received a brand spanking new Toyota CH-R Hybrid with only delivery miles, which was to be made available to us until 31st of December this year. So even though Toyota GB do not believe this this theft epidemic is of their making, at least they helped us with some of the burden of car hire. I must at this point thank Steven Eagell in Tamworth as they have been very helpful at all times and a particular BIg Thanks to Macenzie in service reception for the way that she has managed our situation, certainly a credit to the branch. So we took the option of having the Tilt Alarm fitted but declined the CatLoc Plate as it doesn't seem to offer much protection at a cost of £250 and I've read numerous cases on the web where Cats have still been stolen despite the CatLoc plate which seems to be relativity easy to remove. Which now gives us the dilemma of owning a car which we know is vulnerable to attack yet we have no defence to protect our nearly (OTR Price) £29,000 investment and this really means that the car is unusable, due to the fact that we could once again fall victim to the loss of another catalytic converter, which would be unbearable , so the only option is to take another person to sit in the car when it is unoccupied and also means that it must be garaged over night I have heard about metal plates on ebay etc but I have no way of fitting this myself, so I contacted an eBay business that offers the supply and fitting of a steel wire cage plus the option of a plate at cost of £250 + Vat. Mr CarMax 53-55 The Gardens, behind the Tesco Express, Harrow HA1 4HE. So Tuesday 17th November I paid a visit to Mt CarMax and went for the fully loaded wire cage and plate option. The whole job took around two hours. After the drive home I can confirm that the job is very satisfactory and no noise rattles from the installation. I would also mention that I spoke with a sales manger at a Toyota main dealers, that told me that they have been fitting the tilt sensor and CatLoc to all used cars prior to sale and factoring the cost to the purchase price for the last 18 months after they themselves had four stolen from their forecourt in one week. What a pity that Vantage Toyota who sullied the car and indeed Toyota GB didn't think to do this. If all used car in circulation were fitted with these mods, then this epidemic theft of converters would virtually dry up. As the car is only 18 month old it will be quite a few years before we are ready to buy another car. But next time I wont follow my beloved Toyota brand so blindly.Whilst my love affair with Toyota has been quite strong fro the last 30 years, I now feel as though I have been cheated for a friend or colleague so I will be less trusting of the World Biggest car Maker. Any free charging near us has long since ended, most are put your credit card in and pay through the nose, tbh that's if someone hasn't parked their Range Rover in the nice bit wide. EV space 😂,don't get me wrong I like the idea but if this goes over the 40k threshold in the UK then its a real big no no for me.
