Heres a perfect example of why I get my diesel from people who specialise in FUEL, and get my shopping from people who specialise in FOOD...

This isn't an isolated incident either.

Don't know if this is the right thread but I'm having two pen'orth anyway--- got me an '03

D4D and last year after the M.O.T and reading one or two comments on this here forum

I started using Total Excellium in the tank, no different in starting or fuel economy but it 'feels'

as though it runs better. Now the point of this note , on checking the emission results from last year to this [bearing

in mind same drivers ,same roads, same journeys, same test station and emission test machine] the difference is amazing last year the final result was 1.62 wotsits and this year it came out at 0.61 wotsits.

The only other thing I've done is change the SCV valves. It has had the odd tank of supermarket DERV

but the majority has been Total. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. :naughty:

Not taking sides or trying to make excuses, but i fill my cab evey day, i usually use Shell save, but will put supermarket fuel in occasionally, I have been do'ing this for 25yrs and I work with1100 other drivers, and trust me if anyone discovered "iffy" fuel we would ALL know about it the next day, In this time (25yrs) i can recall about 3 incidents of "iffy" fuel, Tesco a few yrs ago.. A Q8 garage about 15 yrs ago, and a Shell station where petrol was accidently put into a diesel storage tank, so yes i Know it can happen but respectfully these are pretty rare occurences, not much comfort if your vehicle is affected, but IMO your chances of duff fuel are pretty slim, wherever you fill  Stew

Tescos morrisons and Asda, I would be wary of, but Sainsburys is posh Supermarket fuel :D

It's always filled up with a BP tanker which makes me feel bettet :D

Did you hear that on the news yesterday about people stealing your fuel by drilling a hole in you tank and draining it, I would image 4x4's would be easy targets, because of the ground clearance...

Soon we'll be in mad max times

Stew, I agree. It is rare, but it does happen more often at supermarket forecourts than at 'brand' fuel forecourts.

Its just something to be aware of when you choose your next fill up location.

Times are desperate for alot of us, but most of us are law abiding and will find extra hours to work, or items to sell in order to raise the money needed to get by.

The imbeciles stealing fuel and cat's are greedy low life scum.

I haven't got a lot of time for people that damage or steal property while you are not there - vile cowards.

My life would be a lot easier if I was rolling in money but I'm not about to go and rob something or somebody.

No excuses.

Back on topic I`ve got some Archoil 6200 that I`ll be trying in the future, its not cheap but very concentrated.

I`ve noticed on the site that 6100 seems like its the diesel specific additive.

I hope from some of the comments that no-one thinks i am condoning any of this, The Sh**s who are doing this are probably the ones getting £26000 a year in false benefits, or are feeding a drug habit, Stew

I just wondered what you had paid for it Dave as i have just had the following email from a supplier, I had better remove their name as i am not sure whether re-producing an email on a public forum is allowed.....

Dear Customer,

We would like to apologise for the delay in releasing the Archoil products. This is due to delays in packaging and various regulatory constraints we have to resolve when importing chemical products into Europe.

We plan to have the following finished retail products available around the end of March:

AR6200 Fuel Modification Complex - High Concentrate

AR6250 Fuel Modification Complex

AR6400 Professional PEA Concentrate

AR9100 Nanoborate Friction Modifier

Other products in the Archoil range will then follow from April onwards.

However, in the interim we can supply you AR6200 and AR9100 in sample packaging if you require product more urgently? And in doing so we will offer these to you at discounted rates.

Cost to you:

AR6200 125ml = £10+VAT (will treat up to 1250 litres of fuel, approx. 20-25 standard tanks)

AR6200 250ml = £18+VAT (will treat up to 2500 litres of fuel, approx. 40-50 standard tanks)

AR9100 250ml = £10+VAT (will treat up to 7.125 litres of engine or gear oil)

Thank you and regards,

Well folks.

After a week of BG244 being in my tank, one tank full of Shell fuelsave & just filled with Shell V power.

The Rav gave a few minor hesitations last sunday ( annoying ),since then....no issue's

However,i will give it this week for the BG244 to go right the way through the system, along with the v power diesel.

Off to Thetford for a long walk tomorrow, see how it copes with a 100 miles round journey....hopefully with no hesitation issue's

Fuel additive "evaluation"

Just a small point, but when trying to compare what Brand X, Additive Y or Cleaner Z might do for your engine, don't forget that a given additive will remain in the tank and system for a considerable time after the tankful that it was put into, so moving on to the next additive with the next tankful doesn't make much sense! I suppose you really should run at least couple of tankfuls "additive free" between trials, not least to prevent one additive actually mixing with another!

As promised, I have requested MSDS sheets from Archoil and for the BG244, but nothing has been received. I will chase these both now, and collate and post the info.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that several of these additives all look the same and smell the same (bit like an overpowering diesel aroma) ? Hardly surprising, I suppose.

Chris

Well folks...

After 2 weeks after BG244 added & 2 x 3/4 fill up's of V power.....

i still have hesitation issue's,but it is still only on cold starts,in the first 2 / 3 mins of engine warm up.

happens at 2'500 - 3000 revs,still no fault lights.and only in 2nd / 3rd gear,when i floor it.( i only floor it to about 3500 rpm anyway)

As i say.....it hesitates.....but it still goes,the hesitation lasts about 2-3 seconds.

Once its at normal temp....all well.

I may well be booking it to Mr t in next few weeks :-(
