I'm also a bit surprised they hadn't asked you to sign the agreement earier on in proceedings, as they can't sell you gap insurance etc within 48 hrs of you signing....

Thanks for the confirmation Dave.

I finally left the dealership with my new car at about 3.15pm today (I was meant to have collected it at 11am). The hand over 'specialist' insisted that the car had wireless Android Auto connectivity (even when I said I was sure it didn't) and then told me that if my phone had NFC I would be able to charge it wirelessly... (the 'clean' glass looked like it had been wiped with a dirty rag, there was yellow marker on one of the wheels and there are lots of bits of plastic for me to peel off the sill & bumper protectors too)

Just to cap things off my phone died whilst I was in the dealership waiting (died properly I mean, just turned itself off forever.... WTF?)

I was right about the dealership not even offering me an air freshener by way of apology too!

On the bright side it is as nice to drive as I hoped, the key & fob were actually set to work the windows (although I had to ask for that & then send pictures of the pages from the manual to prove that they could do it) and it still rides very nicely despite the stupidly low profile tyres. (they do seem a bit noisy on the road though).

Downsides so far - the speed limit sign recognition is awful, the reversing camera really is ugly low resolution and the DAB reception is much worse than my previous car (can't hold on to the Planet Rock signal for toffee).

Apologies for the rant. I'll try to cheer up a bit now I can change my profile. 😉

Pleased you collected the car, you’ll find many things are improved but yes the reversing camera resolution is a disappointment Toyota could add should’ve fixed. I don’t use dab so can’t comment on that. Definitely no wireless AA and that is down to Toyota not paying the licence in the U.K. not the technology, however, I switched to an iPhone as that is wireless and found Apple Maps to be the best Sat nav and it picked up most speed cameras where Toyota system is the worst yet for that, also Apple Maps works with the HUD as did Waze but that looks a poor effort in comparison.

Did you ever get a firm answer on this?

Kevin, how about you?

Sorry for delay in replying Don and others

I asked for settlement figure online about a week after picking up car, this was supplied immediately and equated to 56 or 58 days interest in my case £343, I was not expecting a minimum interest charge (my ignorance) so tried to contact TFS to discuss implications of withdrawing. This was impossible, hours on hold no reply for days on email. I was giving up will to live and worried about losing the £2.5k deposit contribution so paid settlement figure.

I had not made any PCP payments, have kept the deposit contribution and paid £343 in interest. Settled within 2 weeks of picking up car.

Thanks Kevin.

I was already pretty sure that the bit about making several payments before settling was rubbish. Between you, Dave and the b******s that I was told by the dealership today (see my last post) I am now completely convinced.

What's everyone else's experience with Part Exchange prices due to the long lead time? My current car appears to have fallen in value by about 3k in 6 months (I've done around a thousand miles since then). Has anyone else had this? Have dealers honoured the agreed value at ordering?

Our dealer valued our existing vehicle for trade-in in six months time ( Approx waiting time for new Toyota Corolla TS ) the trade-in value was very poor and got the impression they weren’t really interested as it wasn’t a Toyota so we went to Webuyanycar and received a much better price.

Thanks, mine current car is a Ford and the drop in value is based on WBAC, I had to double check as I thought I must have entered the wrong milage given the drop.

I p/x a 14 year old car, was initially valued at £2500 6 months ago, dropped to £2000 when it came to finalising a few weeks ago. Didn't have any quibbles with that to be honest, but I was very much prepared for that to be the case.

Same experience for me,  the dealership made me an offer in January that was £4 - £5k less than I got via Motorway last week. (the final sale price was just under £14k to put that in perspective)

  • 2 weeks later...

My experience with selling a Gen 2 and then a Gen 3 Prius before the arrival my '21 2.0 Corolla was that a good valet, and then Autotrader at £1 k less than dealer price sold both cars within 7 days.

A BACS cash bank transfer, was all very easy.....

Whats the problem??

Had the update yesterday that my build has started.

Date is still on for the 1st Sept for me as far as I'm aware, ordered end of Feb

Just a small update on this, still being told my "ETA" is 1st Sept, but will not be able to collect the car until the 4th/5th due to paperwork etc. This is fine, although the dealer still cannot give me a delivery date (to them), just an "ETA" of the 1st, even though it's only 2 days away - finding that a bit strange that they don't know whether the car will arrive with them Friday or not, being so soon.

Finally collected my Excel HB yesterday after 11 months 👏

Anyone else having to accept the terms of use every time you power on? Queried it with the dealer, but they're as much use as a chocolate teapot.. (and have been since day 1)

You have to scan the QR code via the Toyota app, it will then stop coming up.

I had, a few times. Seems I hadn't added my profile though, so I think now that's been done it's all good... 👍

Picked mine up on Monday, all connected up and seems nice. Haven't been able to get the remote climate stuff working yet, even though the website says it's fully supported on the Corolla, the dealer has told me to give it a day or so as maybe it hasn't activated(?) and then also said not to rely on the website as it's not always accurate which seems an interesting response.

Has anyone else got the remote climate working on the new Corolla?

Seems to work fine for me. Auto shuts off after 10 minutes.

I have had it working briefly on mine, on the MyT Toyota App,  not much need too pre cool in Scotland, it will earn its keep in the winter.  Accessed via the fan symbol below your car.

Result ! Just been advised by dealer that my Corolla 1.8 TS Excel is on the production line and due at the dealership at the end of September, so a big improvement as originally stated as end of December to the dealer.

Just tried again today and it seems to be working! Must have been a timing issue on my side, strange!

funny coincidence, i've just had a call and apparently mine is due to be delivered to the dealership on the 19th September, ordered 11th August!  Original estimate was 30th November.
