The radio isn't seeing the reverse signal then

do you have a pin 2 on the 28 pin on the car plug ?

Yes there's already a wire in it

Do your reverse lights work ? You should get 12V on pin 2 when in reverse (ignition on)

Does this mean more tinkering with the wires?

No, just asking

Do you know how I can get this trigger the camera? Again I really appreciate your input on this. I wouldn't know where to start 👍

The radio needs a reverse signal to tell it is in reverse to switch the display in turn this sends 6v to the camera, you have the wiring in place

so do your reverse light(s) work ????

Yes they 100% work. I got the wife to stand behind the car to check

You need to confirm you have 12v on pin 2 when in reverse

Sorry, how do I do that?

With a multimeter or a 12v test light, both are cheap and easily available

I'll have a look tomorrow to find one. Ive already spent £30 on top to try to get this sorted.

I think I have one them screwdriver things that light up. Where would I stick it whilst in reverse? In the harness that's already in the car. What would I potentially need to do? I take it more tinkering. Just tested my current head unit and camera still working.

test light - clip the negative to something metal  place the tip on pin 2 put the car in reverse, i will double-check the diagrams to make sure i haven't missed anything - if the old unit works it must be ok

Ok I bought a multimeter. Powered the car on touched the negative to metal and red into the pin 2. This is the reading. This was the same reading when put into reverse.

This is what the label says on the radio. I'll have to plug the thing in sometime to get the software version. I've noticed on the forums that there are other owners with the same issue, upgrading from Touch to Touch 2 and with the same 16pin Vs 24pin issue. No one's seemed to have found a solution.

16 - 24 pin isn't an issue

if you just have the 28 pin plugged in, when you put it in reverse the radio should show REV on, in the hidden service menu - testing with a multimeter shows you have Battery voltage on pin 2 in reverse

do you have a pic of the 24 pin plug you are using

Hi, yeah I did this when asked and it definitely showed Rev - Off.

I just done the same test with my current, without the 16pin camera and REV switches to ON when in reverse.

Please see the 24pin I'm using which is I've connected the cables as suggested.

Ive also went into Diagnostics on the new radio and found these. Some of these codes are present on the current radio.

Oh and the software version on the new radio is 01015B

B157D is no dab aerial

B1550 dab error

B1579 is no mic

from info i have gathered, the later radios get the reverse signal from the can bus, usually pin 2 can override this but not in this case - i will look into a work around

Maybe worth a shot, do a INIT reset hold setup and turn the headlights on and off 3 times, this brings up a red sytem check mode with a INIT button, iirc press and hold for a few seconds and release, then cycle the key
